Nairobi Divas Baringo

The Tent Zipper Is Loud. Her Moans Are Louder.

Lake Baringo is famous for hippos, crocodiles, and birdwatching. But after sunset, when the tourists zip up their tents and the campfire dies, another kind of wildlife emerges. She’s been coming here since she was a girl, her family runs a small campsite on the western shore.

She meets you at the gate, wearing a khaki shirt and hiking sandals. Underneath, a leopard‑print bikini.

"The hippos come out at night,” she says. “They’re loud. We’ll be louder.”

She leads you to a canvas tent at the edge of the campsite, away from the other guests. The lake laps nearby. A fire crackles in the distance. Inside, she’s laid a foam mattress and a battery‑operated fan.

“No one uses this tent,” she whispers, unzipping your pants. “Too close to the water. They’re scared of the hippos.”

She kneels on the mattress, takes you in her mouth. The canvas walls flap in the breeze. A hippo grunts, close, maybe twenty meters away. She moans. The hippo grunts again.

He’s curious,” she says, climbing on top. “Let’s give him a show.”

She lowers herself onto you, rides you while the lake ripples. The tent sways. A crocodile slides into the water. She clenches. A fish eagle cries. She clenches again.

She comes with a gasp that the hippo answers with a snort. You follow, emptying into her as the tent zipper rattles.

She wipes sweat from her forehead. “Same tent tomorrow? I’ll bring a bigger fan, and earplugs for the hippos.”
